Bird Crazy Birthday Box Card

Hey All! Happy End of the Year!
I wanted to share a special card I made for my dad for his birthday earlier this month. I had to wait until he got it to post so I didn't spoil the surprise.

I offered this as a class last week but plan to offer it again as some missed it due to it being so close to Christmas!

Below is a close-up of the star of the card. I call him the Grumpy bird. I made & added a noisemaker to conceal his pout and make him look more festive. And I thought he needed rose colored glasses to help remind my dad to keep looking at every day with a hopeful heart (he is battling stage 4 cancer).

Below is the full view of the card.

Here is a side view so you can see the layers: the party banner in back, the balloons in the middle and the grumpy bird in the front. Everything is attached to clear strips I cut out of heavy plastic packaging. I did this so it stands up well.

I hope this one makes you all smile! I think It would also make a great Happy New Year card!

I used Tim Holtz Bird Crazy stamps and matching dies and Crazy Things stamps and Dies and Crazy Thoughts stamps. I also used one of his thinlits die sets, for the happy birthday. I can't remember the name of the set. I punched little banners using the Stampin' Up banner punch to make a little party banner on the back row.

This was such a fun project to make and the class participants had a lot of fun designing their cards too. I hope you will be inspired by this project!

I wish you all a Happy, Healthy and Very Blessed New Year!

I would love to hear from those who see this post so I know it's being seen by someone, somewhere so please leave a comment below. If you have questions, you may leave those in the comments also.

Thanks for stopping by our blog!

We're Back!

I wanted to let everyone know that we're back online, and will be working to get our blog & store information updated and revised and get the Cr@ft L@b Chronicles back up and running again on a more regular schedule. I hadn't realized that it's been nearly 2 years since my last post! My how time flies and things change! I had a really hard time getting my access back after such a long time. Finally figured it out today! YAY! Time for a happy dance!

I apologize for disappearing from blog land for so long. We've had a lot of changes going on these past two years while we've been MIA.
LSS: Over the past two years, we have closed our Hardware store and relaunched the Cr@ft L@b to a standalone store and it now operates in the space where the hardware store once was. So, we are now fully dedicated to selling Craft Supplies and hosting our weekly Craft Socials and our Spring and Fall retreats. And we are making progress towards getting a regular schedule of classes/activities established again. It's all starting to come together...slowly.

We do have a different operating schedule now.
We are now Open: Tuesday - Friday from 10 am - 6 pm and Saturdays from 9 am - 5 pm.
Closed Sunday's and Monday's.

We also have extended shopping hours where we are open for shopping anytime during our after-hours events/classes. So feel free to stop in and see us. We'd love for you to see the new space in person!
Here's a picture of our new space:
(This photo was taken back in May before we installed all of our IKEA display wires that we now have hanging around the perimeter. They are overflowing with sample projects hanging all around for your creative inspiration.)
Our workshop (the Cr@ft L@b) now seats up to 24 people! Look at all the space we have now! We have Nine 8' tables and Four 6' tables ready for croppers and crafters of all types! And our "toy box" holds a plethora of punches, dies, Embossing folders and Cricut cartridges all ready for use by our customers when they come to play at the Cr@ft L@b! We also have a Cricut Expression, Sizzix Vagabond, Cuttlebug, Sizzix Texture Boutique, Scor-Pal, Score-It Board, Envelope Punch Board, Minc Mini and a Dreamkuts machine in our arsenal of toys! Not to mention the 75+ 12" Pizza boxes full of wood block stamps and several soda flats full of more wood block stamps that we have acquired since setting up our pizza box stamp organization system. I'm not sure, but I think I might have a slight addiction to rubber stamps! That's probably a gross understatement! I'm happy to admit, I'm guilty as charged! I could think of much worse addictions one could have!

All of our Classes/Events will be posted out on our Events tab on our Facebook page at:
https://www.facebook.com/InTheCraftLab/events
Therefore, we won't be posting our class/events a second time over here on the blog. I'll try to see if we can set up a link to it over on the sidebar. It's a public page, so even if you don't have Facebook, you should still be able to view it and get the information. Please go out and LIKE our page: https://www.facebook.com/InTheCraftLab/ if you haven't already!

We also have an album out on our Facebook page highlighting some of the products we carry. It is by no means a complete listing of what we stock, but we have been trying to add items as they come into the store. If you see something you want, feel free to e-mail us for pricing and availability. We welcome orders and are more than happy to ship items to our customers and accept payments via our Square invoicing. The Square invoicing feature has allowed us to efficiently serve our extended customer base all across the country!

Now that you've been updated...it's time for me to get busy getting crafty! Thanks for visiting our blog. We welcome suggestions on how we can make it more interesting for you to read. So if you have topic or project suggestions, please let us know! Stay tuned for upcoming posts about recent projects we've been making here at the Cr@ft L@b!

Happy Crafting!
