Playing with Distress Paints...

Ranger is having a February Color Palette contest where prizes are sure to be awarded to some lucky crafters...so I just had to make something using their products to enter for my chance to win.

I discovered today that the cookies I had bought my husband for Valentine's Day never made it to their destination. I had forgotten that I hid them in my craft room, and today, while looking for the next victim to paint in my new Distress Paints explorations, I spied the cookies he should have gotten two days ago! Whoops! I will soon be redeemed! Look what I did to pretty up his package of heart shaped cookies that he will soon find on his work desk. They just mysteriously appeared while he was away.

I cut the cupid out of aluminum hardware flashing using my Vagabond and the movers and shapers base tray and the mini cupid movers and shapers die. Then I applied Spun Sugar Distress Paint over the body and face, leaving the wings and hair areas clean. Then I added Awild Honey and Vintage Photo Distress Paint for the hairline area and then coated the wings with Picket Fence Distress Paint. Gave it a light misting with my mini mister to slightly blend the colors, then shot it with my Heat It tool to dry.

The heart background was made by tearing a heart shape out of an old book I got at the thrift store. I applied Barn Door Distress Paint in a thin layer so the words would still show through. I just swiped the dabber directly over the book page until it was evenly coated.

The bugle...was added as a joke. He only thought that I had eaten the last one! Tee hee.

The burlap was dabbed with the following Distress Paints: Barn Door, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed and a touch of Picket Fence, then misted to blend the colors. The words were cut out of the same book paper as the heart and lightly dabbed with a very thin layer of Picket Fence Distress Paint.

I hope you enjoyed looking at my late Valentine's gift decoration. It went together really quickly...and lucky for me...my hubby really liked the cookies, even though they were two days late. BTW...in case you haven't figured it out yet...these New Distress Paints are the bomb! I love them as much as chocolate! They are so versatile...and I haven't found anything yet that is going to be safe from me painting on it! LOL. But I promise, I won't paint the dogs!
